Of art and artistry: Artpod Manipal hosts first exhibition

Artpod Manipal is an independent student-run organization that aims to bring art into the spotlight. Their first exhibition was held on March 27 at the Innovation Centre and was inaugurated at 10:15 am by D Srikanth Rao, the Director of MIT.|| Photograph courtesy: Arsha K A

“Finding inspiration is hard, but Instagram is a place where you can find talented people who love what they do,” says Manan Dhuri, a photographer. He loves experimenting and met many inspiring people while discovering his affinity for photography.|| Photograph courtesy: Arsha K A

“Whenever I need to de-stress, I draw,” explains artist Devishi Lohit. She has a liking for drawing with ink and her intricate pieces of work speak for themselves. According to her, an artist can’t choose between their works as each piece holds a special place in their hearts.|| Photograph courtesy: Arsha K A

The art works ranged from photography and minimalism to abstract and graphic art. Each of the art pieces kept on display had a story of their own. “If there’s one piece of advice, it’s that artists have to go at their own pace and practice until they realize that art has no rules to begin with,” articulates Omkar, an artist.|| Photograph courtesy: Arsha K A

Says organising head Varidhi, “In every moment of the day, there’s art hidden somewhere. I’m a chemical engineering student from MIT and I find even mathematical formulae artistic ─ the patterns, the curves, and the graphs have a touch of art to them. Art is everywhere, you just need to notice it.”|| Photograph courtesy: Arsha K A

The Artpod Manipal team sees themselves expanding their horizons in the upcoming days by hosting more exhibitions. They truly believe in art and all that it has to offer. In the future, they want to give artists complete creative freedom where they can present their work in the set-up they initially imagined. || Photograph courtesy: Arsha K A
