National Music and Dance festival

Manipal: The Bharatha Mani National Music and Dance festival was held at the Mangalore Town Hall from Nov 3rd- Nov 8th. It was organised by Bharatha Nrithya Sabha and Mani Krishnaswami Academy for the second time and they concentrated on classical music and dance by artists from all over India.

 

The festival was flagged off with a performance by young students of music from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts. There was a wide array of performances in the event. Dance performances in Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi by artists from Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata were the most cherished. The renowned performers at the event were Sheejith Krishna who won the Bharatha Mani National Youth Award along with Ranjani Guruprasad, a classical singer from Bengaluru.

 

One of the organisers of the show P Nityanand Rao, secretary of Mani Krishnaswami Academy said, “For a classical music and dance fest, the audience turn up is always good”. More than 600 people attended the show every day. A spectator of the event, Mrs Susheela Bhatkandhi said, “The show was well organised and all events began dot on time. No one was kept waiting”. On the whole the concert was conducted well and carried out flawlessly.
