Radiology workshop organised by KMC

Manipal: Six renowned scientists came together for a workshop jointly organised by the departments of Radiology and Oncology of Kasturba Medical College's (KMC) hospitals in Manipal and Mangalore under the patronage of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), here on Jan 16th and 17th.

The workshop on ‘Predictive Assays and Innovative technology in Radiotherapy’, which was inaugurated by Dr H S Ballal, Pro-Chancellor, Manipal University, will centre around the need to make optimum use of the available advanced treatment technologies in radiotherapy.

Prof Streffer, a renowned radiation research scientist from Germany, attended the workshop along with five other scientists from his country. Eight other Indian scientists and Oncologists were also present at the workshop. Dr M S Vidyasagar, Head of the Radiotherapy and Oncology department of the Manipal Hospital, in his welcome address stressed on the need for improvised technology in Radiotherapy.

Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Director General, International Health Division, Indian Council of Medical Research, while highlighting the ICMR’s encouragement of the long standing Indo-German collaboration said that ICMR was ready to initiate talks with Manipal University and the German organisations to make advancements in the field of cancer research.
