Article 19 pre-events draw to a close
Manipal: The events mosaic of Manipal Institute of Communication’s (MIC) Article-19 pre-events that kicked off with “Futsal” and concluded yesterday with screenings of Oscar nominated movies; proved to generate the required euphoria and anticipation for the main event ahead.
Swift passes and mind-boggling techniques were at display as 32 teams from across the University contested in the Futsal (mini-football) tournament from 5th to 7th February. The team 'M R Reds A' from KMC had the last laugh and walked away with the winner's title.
Music lovers made merry at the unplugged concert at the T M A Pai Planetarium on Feb 8th, with people swinging to the tunes of the piano, guitar and saxophone. Bands like 'Exiled' and 'Can of Bliss' ensured total value for money to all those who attended the concert. “Since it was just acoustics, I loved the music and the relaxed atmosphere” said Vibha Iyer, a first year student of MIC.
'Burn Out', the venue for Fifa ’10 gaming tournament witnessed some high action on consoles with Hugh Loren and Yasin Rhyman Sahib contending for the finals. Yasin swept to victory and thus bagged free gaming hours at Burn Out.
Movies on “Road to Oscars” ensured wholesome entertainment to movie lovers at the Planetarium again. Sherlock Holmes, Up in the Air (starring George Clooney) and Up (second animated movie to be nominated for Oscars in Best Picture category ever) attracted maximum crowd. “The timing for the movies was bad but the concept was brilliant”, rued Apoorva Tyagi, a movie buff and a student of MIT, as the screenings clashed with the sessional exams of her college. “Please screen the live Oscar Ceremony on Mar 7th too”, she quipped.
Unfortunately due to trouble brewing by the likes of the Rama Sena in Manipal, with anticipated attacks on all parties, Valentine's day celebrations in the form of a party, Heart Attack had to be cancelled
The main three-day international event 'Article 19', will be held from 25th to 27th February and has some exciting events like 'Goal for Globe' and 'Fun Fair' lined up. MIC is gearing up to put up an enthralling show much like its preceding ones.
