MIT bus driver accused in campus bus accident FIR1 min read

Manipal: The Manipal Police have filed the First Information Report (FIR) with regard to the death of MIT student Ishan Nihalani on March 15.

Manipal Police Sub-inspector Ishwara Naik M S told TMJ that the driver of the bus the student fell out of will be charged under Section 279 of the Indian Penal Code (rash driving to endanger human life) and Section 304A (causing death by negligence not amounting to culpable homicide).

He has also been charged under Section 134(a) of the Indian Motor Vehicle 1988 act (not taking reasonable steps to secure medical attention), Section 134(b) (failure to report the circcumstances of the occurence) and Section 187 (punishment for offences relation to the accident).

The case has been registered as CR- 60/2 at the Manipal Police station.
