MCOPS hosts national level T20 Tournament1 min read
Manipal: Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS) organised a national level T20 tournament as part of their golden jubilee celebrations. The tournament saw six teams from all over India competing at the TMA Pai Stadium, End Point from March 27-April 2.
Preliminary matches were held on a league basis and the top four teams, which were MCOPS, Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial College, Mangalore; C.L Baid Mehta College, Chennai; and KLE’s College of Pharmacy, Belgaum, qualified for the semi-finals.
The finals were held between C.L Baid Mehta College, Chennai and KLE’s College of Pharmacy, Belgaum. C.L Baid Mehta College chased a target of 145 runs in 14 overs and emerged victorious. Manjunath M from the winning team was awarded the Man of the Match and Man of the Tournament.
They were then awarded at the closing ceremony by Dr. K. Ramnarayan, Vice Chancellor, Manipal University (MU) and Dr. N. Udupa, Principal, MCOPS.
“It is a big event for us. It’s the first time our college is hosting something of this sort. We even got umpires from the Karnataka Cricket Association for the matches,” said Venkatesh Kamath, Sports Advisor, MCOPS.
“When we first came here we saw six teams which was very less, but then the competition was very tough even then. Overall, it was a very good experience. The accommodation, management and facilities were very impressive,” said Abhijeet Patel, student of KLE’s College of Pharmacy, Belgaum.
The event was inaugurated by the Dr. H. S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor, Manipal University and Dr N. Udupa.
