Manipal: Kasturba Medical College (KMC) conducted its tenth annual literary fest, Vibes 2012 from September 7 – 12 at the Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hall 2. Vibes, which was initially restricted to only students of Manipal University (MU), opened its doors for participants outside MU.

It had participants from colleges like Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Belgaum and Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore. “Notes through Strokes”, “Catch My Tail” and “Lost in Transition” were few of the events that were introduced this year. New events like soap carving and nail art witnessed a good turnout of male participants from various colleges. The Harry Potter Quiz, a signature event of Vibes, was modified this year and was changed to a FRIENDS quiz. The FRIENDS quiz was the highlight of Vibes 2012.

This event was the biggest and had 82 participants from various colleges. “The event became so popular that we had to forcefully close registrations after 82 people signed up,” said Pavan Bhat, Literary Secretary of Vibes. Apart from this, Vibes also had five different themed quizzes conducted by renowned quizzer Suraj Menon, an alumnus of KMC.

“Competitions this year were tough but we got to learn a lot from every event that took place. This year vibes was not only about winning but also about learning,” said Binita Vadhar, the winner of the JAM event.

“Our only aim was to make Vibes a bigger and a better fest than what it was last year, and expand and cater to colleges across the state. We are extremely happy with the turnout this year. Our target has been achieved,” said Pavana Bhat.
