MMMC celebrates Microfest 20121 min read
The fest started with the participants putting up modules of microbes which were of both existing and imaginative. The participants displayed models from various genres of micro-organism. Wong Qi Ying, a third year student of MMBS in MMMC presented Bacteroide Lipidio, a combination of both existing and imaginative microbes that would target cholesterols in the body. The microbiology quiz was conducted in the evening which comprised of eight rounds of quizzing including audio visuals round.
The winners of the two events were awarded in the valedictory function which was held in the evening. Addressing the gathering, the chief guest Dr.K.Ramnarayan, Vice chancellor, Manipal Universtiy (MU) said, “Such competitions triggers more learning among students and brings in fun and contest in academics.”
Dr Anand M. K., Professor of Microbiology in MMMC said, “Such events foster the academics of the students and make them more inquisitive in nature.”
“Such events are good for students to come up with new innovations and ideas which can be implemented scientifically,” said Chitrini Ghosal, a third year student of Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal. She continued, “This event is very creative, interactive and innovative.”
Dr. Ullas Kamath, Dean of MMMC said, “This event was meant to indulge students in co-curricular activities and cater to their thirst to invent.” The fest was inaugurated by
Dr K. Ramnarayan, the Vice Chancellor of Manipal University (MU).Other dignitaries present in event were Dr. P.G Shivananda, Chair of Microbiology, MU; Dr. P. L. N. Rao, Dean, KMC and Dr. G. Pradeep Kumar, Associate Dean, KMC (Manipal).
