DOC organises its annual business fest ‘Conscendo’1 min read
Manipal: Department of Commerce (DOC), Manipal University (MU) hosted its annual, two-day business fest, Conscendo on February 22 and 23. Conscendo had a plethora of competitions to test the skills of the participants and weed out the best amongst them.
The theme of the fest, ‘Re-emerge 360’, focused on how the teams from different colleges come forward as a company but are broken apart and by the end of the fest have learnt something new and are whole again. The main competition, ‘Best Manager’ spanned over both the days and tested the participants in their marketing, HR and financial skills and had to also participate in a business quiz.
“I feel that though this is only its second year since its inception, it is good enough to compete in any top financial or business fest,” said Sarbashish Basu, Event Head of Best Manager.
The highlight of this fest was the launch of the innovative financial board game, ‘Praxis’ by Hemanth Joshi, CEO, Eduwealth, Singapore. The game provides a simulation where the participants would have to make financial decisions and manage their money during economic upturns and downturns.
The fest also held a cultural show on both the evenings to lighten the contestants’ moods. An English adaptation of Yakshagana was performed in the Amphitheatre on February 23 and rock shows and dance performances were held on February 23.
“Events are rounded up and the fest is all about the commerce background. It’s a new experience being from the hospitality background,” said Preadeep Samuel, a final year student doing his Bachelors in Hospitality, WGSHA.
