KMC Manipal celebrates World Physiotherapy Day1 min read

Manipal: The physiotherapy department Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Manipal celebrated the importance of fitness on September 8-9 at the Shirdi Saibaba Cancer Hospital, Manipal.

Following their theme ‘Fit to take part’, the two day event focused on the importance of physiotherapy in our daily lives. Dr. Bhamini Rao, HOD od physiotherapy, KMC Manipal said, ‘The importance of physiotherapy cannot be explained. It gives disabled people an opportunity in life and empowers them.’

Close to 300 students and faculty members actively participated in the biggest part of the event, the walkathon, to show their support for physiotherapy. The walk started from Sharada Madhav Pai OPD and ended at the Amphi Theatre in Madhav Vihar. Abhishek Nayak, a second year KMC student said, ‘The experience was amazing. I feel that the importance of this field should be propagated so that everybody understands its usefulness.’

Dr Amitesh Narayan, HOD of Physiotherapy, KMC Mangalore, judged the e-poster competition conducted for the under-graduate students, to express their opinions on physiotherapy, in the most creative way possible. ‘ The students have been very effective in putting their views across on physiotherapy. This shows that they have the potential to show the predominance of medical science in all fields’.

There were also workshops for the clinical investigation of allied health sciences, and several cultural and literary events like quiz and collage making.
