AIB’s Abish Mathew at Vivencia2 min read
The fest had a fashion show and a dance competition, following which Abish Mathew ended the show with a session of stand-up comedy. The events included participants from various colleges, including St. Aloysius College Mangalore, Department of Public Health, School of Communication (SOC), Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) and others.
A member of the famous comedy collective and YouTube channel All India Bakchod, people turned up in large numbers to watch Abish Mathew perform. However, aside from the fact that the show started an hour late, there were a number of technical difficulties that left the audience impatient. Aritra Roy, a third year Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) student said, “We didn’t expect to sit here through the dance and fashion shows and watch him perform only for half an hour. I felt it ended rather abruptly and could have been organised better.”
There were people who enjoyed though. “Abish Mathew was hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing. All in all, it was quite nice, except for the fact that it was not managed too well, which was quite evident. But you’ve got to hand it to them to have put all that together so quickly,” said Madhur Goenka, a first year MIT student.
It was organised mainly by the first year students of SOM. “We organised the entire thing in 22 days. This is the first time we’re doing Vivencia and for us first year students, it’s quite a lot of work on our shoulders as first-timers. I didn’t expect it to be as amazing as it turned out to be, but we have Abish Mathew to thank for that,” said Lwinton J, one of the organisers.
