Manipal: Absolute Dramatics Addiction (ADA), a dramatics club from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) staged Vijay Tendulkar’s “Khamosh! Adaalat Jaari Hai”, on April 9 at the MIT Library Auditorium in which their protagonist Asmita Shrivastava a third year student from the School of Communication (SOC), got a standing ovation.

The play is an adaption of the original Marathi play “Shantata! Court Chalu Aahe”. The play was based on a mock trial, being performed by a group of vibrant characters who meet up every now and then, for their mutual interest in theatre. As the play progresses, the mock trial which supposedly was a pretend-play, suddenly turns into an accusatory game and it finally emerges from the trial that Miss Benare, the protagonist is carrying an out-of-wedlock child by Prof. Damle, the missing member of the cast.

“All the members have worked very hard. The dedication was visible on the stage. For many of us, this will be our last time, as we are in the last year of college,” said Venumadhav Bhat, a crew member and a third year student at SOC.

“I loved the emotional transition of the characters and how the mood of the play shifted from a comical theme, to a more serious tone towards the climatic nearing.” said Jonathan a former student of Department of Commerce.
