Manipal: The annual blood donation camp held at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) on August 15, broke the record of 1,300 bottles from last year and achieved their target of collecting 2,015 bottles of donated blood.

Prof. Balakrishna Maddodi, faculty coordinator of the event, said, “Moghaveer Youth Association, one of the units responsible for the camp, is a very strong organisation within India, especially in blood donation. They want to reach the various socio-economic regions because most people are unaware of why they should donate blood and they work to create awareness. So this is a small contribution from our side.”

Rotaract Club Manipal and Red-X – the socio-adventure club of the university, were solely responsible for spreading awareness for the camp. Thanks to their campaign efforts, donors and supporters attended in large numbers.

Akansh Pratik, 2nd year Electronics and Communications, MIT, said, “It was a chance to do good once in a while.”
