Manipal: The last date for the application for Manipal Arogya Card has been extended to August 22. This social initiative, which began in 2001 by Manipal University, plans to enroll at least two lakh members, this year.

The cardholders can avail discounts on health care treatments (including pre existing diseases), medicines and, other facilities in various networked hospitals under Manipal Health Enterprises in Manipal, Mangaluru, Udupi and Karkala.

Dr. M Dayanand, Chief Operating Officer and Medical Superintendent, said, “The last date for the registration of the card has been extended due to popular demand.  50% discount on the consultation fee by any specialist or super-specialist doctor seemed to be the most alluring benefit under the scheme. Also, you can approach them any number of times, throughout the year. The other benefits include, 25% discount on diagnostic and laboratory investigations and also a rebate of 10% on the medicines purchased from the hospital pharmacy.”

The card membership fee is Rupees 270 for individuals and Rupees 550 for families which include the card holder, spouse and all the independent children, less than 25 years of age. The applications for the same are available with all Manipal Health Enterprises networks and, designated agents. Syndicate Bank also provides enrolment facilities at their branches. The card will be valid from August 25, 2015 till July 21, 2016.
