Manipal: Red X, the socio adventure club of the Manipal University, organised a two day adventure weekend, Vertigo, on 26 and 27 September in various places in Manipal Institute of Technology’s (MIT) campus.

Vertigo offered four types of adventure sports: Zorbing, Wall rappelling, Archery and Zip Lining. “This is the first event of the adventure wing of Red X this year,” said Rishabh Bagrdoia, chairperson of the club.

Saturday witnessed the much awaited sport of zorbing which extended from the 13th hostel block to Kamath Circle. Over 200 people took part in sport which was held in batches from 1pm to 8pm. “It was exhilarating. At first I thought it was going to be claustrophobic but turned out to be pretty great,” said Shivam Priyadarsh, a first year engineering student.

On Sunday, the events started right at 9 in the morning and went on for 12 hours. Archery was held at the NCC grounds, while the participants wall rappelled from the 6th floor of the Innovation Centre. Zip lining was hosted near the 5th academic block of MIT. “I am an acrophobic but the harness was extremely good and it did not scare me one bit,” said Shrutee Rao, a second year MIT student post zip lining. “More and more people are turning up for the activities today so we have spot registrations,” said Anant Agarwal, a third-year civil engineering student at Manipal Institute of Technology, who led the event.

“Not only are adventure sports fun, but also the fact that the event is for a charitable cause made me participate in it. I would love to do it again,” said Varun Falak, a first year engineering student.
