Manipal: Tech Graffiti, the wall painting pre-event for Tech Tatva, the official technical fest of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), faced a huge turnout loss as Red X stole the limelight with its adventure sports. It was held on 26 September at NLH 304.

The event did not fare as well as they had hoped with only 6 people attending the event. The fact that the event was held on a weekend and another event, namely Red X, was held during the same time, hampered the turn out. This had been the first time they had ever held such an event, and were hopeful about its success. But the response they received was disheartening. Raenoj Iyer, Chairman of M.A.F.I.A. and an MIT student said that many students had been interested in the event, and had been enquiring about it but due to the Red X event, not many people turned up.

Every year, the core team of Tech Tatva paints the walls outside Block 3, 13 etc to promote and publicize the event. But this year, they decided to host “Tech Graffiti” so that students outside of MIT get a chance to display their thoughts on the theme Frugal Innovation. Sakshi Gupta, MIT 3rd year comments, “The basic idea of hosting this event is to give the people who are not a part of the core team to leave their mark on the campus.”
