Manipal: The annual technical fest of the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), ‘Tech Tatva 2015’ was inaugurated on October 6 at the MIT Library Auditorium.  The theme of the fest is ‘Frugal Innovation- making more from less’, and is going to be held from October 7 to 10.

More than 3500 participants are expected to participate from various colleges in and around Manipal, Mangalore and other cities. The Chief Guest for the occasion, Dr H. Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor of Manipal University appreciated the way in which the students worked for the fest and believed that the launching of the ‘Manipal University Student Research Forum’, a student body, would inculcate research interest in students of all levels.

Several technical workshops will be held on all the days, as a part of ‘Tech Tatva’ to help students build technical aptitude and get a hands-on experience. In addition to the 60 events being held, 9 events will be held online.

‘’In addition to The Manipal Conclave, a seminar under which eminent speakers from different backgrounds gather to talk to students, another event , ‘Tech Talks’ is being added to the list. This will enable not just engineers, but individuals from any background to share and present ideas to the audience and participate in the ongoing contests,’’ said Akash Verma, convener of the event.

The event was also attended by Dr G.K. Prabhu, Director of MIT; Dr Veena Maben, Associate Director; Dr Geetha Maiya, Deputy Director Student Affairs; and other important faculty. The fest aims to provide a platform for students across the country to showcase and gain recognition based on their ideas, expose themselves to the world outside of classrooms and learn from the best.
