Manipal: The Music and Fine Arts Club (M.A.F.I.A.) conducted the annual ‘Manipal’s Got Talent’ (MGT) from October 15-17 with music, dance and art events held at Kamath Circle, the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) quadrangle and the New Lecture Hall (NLH) building, respectively. Many events were however postponed during the programme.

The Eastern and Western Solo Vocals on the first day, and the Instrumental Solo event on the second day were two events that got postponed owing to time constraints. “At one event, the judges who were supposed to come weren’t able to turn up and they gave us very less time to arrange for new judges. We still managed to get new judges. Though the event got postponed, it did not get cancelled,” said Tuhin Bhattachary third year student at MIT and core member of M.A.F.I.A..

The group dance event got cancelled owing to low participation. The M.A.F.I.A. club responded to this on their Facebook page saying, “It is unfortunate that the group dance event had to be cancelled due to very low participation and we apologize for the same. However, we are positive that there will be a better turnout next time.”

There were also complaints about the lack of a stage.  “I understand that there were problems regarding the stage. In fact, we were planning to conduct the event at the stage where the Robo wars were conducted during TechTatva but unfortunately, the Robo wars setup was still there and we couldn’t hold any event there,” said Tuhin.

The turnout for Rhythm Revival was large considering that MIT’s Dandiya night was being conducted around the same time.
