Free WiFi at Malpe Beach1 min read
Malpe: Keeping in focus the development of tourism and enhancement, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.(BSNL) started the facility of free WiFi in Malpe Beach on 15 January.
The WiFi service is scheduled to run for one hour per day per number with speeds expected to be up to 4 mbps. Elucidating on the immediate utility, R. Santosh, member of Malpe Development Committee said, “Our primary aim is to help and boost the tourism of the region. We also have plans for including a guide map of the region.”
Presiding over a meeting of the district tourism department and the Malpe Development Committee, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District, Dr. R. Vishal, stated that for the first phase of this facility, the district tourism department will pay BSNL Rs 1 lakh for every three months of this service.
In view of the future developments, the district tourism department would further look into various aspects like installing high mast lamps, interlock, setting up ticket counter and sun shelters for visitors, directions of which have been given by Dr. R. Vishal to the Nirmithi Kendra.
The Malpe Development Committee has also initiated various developmental activities for the benefit of tourists, especially to highlight the need for cleanliness and security of the visitors. Dr. R. Vishal for the same purpose also directed district police to interact with coastal security police and ensure strict security at the beach area and also the St. Mary’s Island.
