Manipal: Author Preeti Shenoy encouraged the audience to chase their dreams in an inspirational talk at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) Central Library Auditorium on January 23.

The journey of the renowned author, from an amateur blogger in 2006 to the author of six bestselling books, was recounted in the hour-long speech. She mentioned that her most famous work, “Life’s what you make it”, was rejected 39 times before it was published. This revelation resonated in the minds of those in attendance. “I just completed the book (Life’s what you make it), and I really connected with her book on a personal level. When she spoke about not quitting, it left a lasting impact on me. You hear the same thing in a lot of places but then to really witness an author say it is just different,” said Anoon an MSc Chemistry 1st year student.

The address by Preeti Shenoy was followed by a questionnaire with the floor open to the audience to question the author.  “I think the questionnaire round was the best. She answered a lot of questions and she did it in such a way that appealed to us. It appealed to the younger audience more because we connected with what she said with all the insecurities we face”, said Madhulika Sreeram MIT 3rd year and an organizer of the event. The event was followed by a book-signing session with students interacting with the author in zest.

The talk was attended by the Director of MIT along with faculties and students of various other colleges of the university. It was organized by the MIT Student Council.
