Manipal: Welcomgroup Academy of Culinary Arts (WACA) organised an American themed food fest on March 5 at the college premises. The lip-smacking menu included a six course meal with complimentary potato fries. The expected footfall too was on the rise in contrast to the preceding years. Called The Great American Feast, the at the fest menu ranged from the good ol’ classic burgers, pizzas and hotdogs to more exquisite delicacies like barbequed buffalo wings and apple pie.
Speaking about the best dish of the night, the Three Cheese Chicken Burger, Marc Alexander Sierra, a visiting professor at WGSHA and a former student of The Culinary Institute of America exclaimed, “It had an amalgamation of mozzarella, cheddar and feta cheese with slow cooked meat layered in barbeque sauce, pickles, jalapenos and slaw in a soft brioche bun.” Furthermore, he added, “I could feel the cheese oozing out of the bun and it was one of the most sumptuous burgers I’ve had in India.”
The Hot Dogs were made from pork sausages and caramelised onion, embedded between a garlic & oregano bread, and was served with accompaniments such as relish mustard mayonnaise and roasted garlic mayonnaise.
The classic crowd pulling Hawaiian Pizza’s crust was made with layers of naturally rising dough, which created a crunchy outside and soft inside for the perfect bite. Each pizza was smothered with a special herb-flavoured sauce; made from scratch with vine-ripened tomatoes, and topped with thick slices of real, premium pepperoni and pineapples, and 100% real Mozzarella and Cheddar cheeses. The perfect option for a fulfilling lunch or dinner.
The All-American Classic Apple pie was filled with real, crisp apple slices, tossed in sugar, cinnamon and fragrant spices for a delicious pop of natural sweetness in every bite. Served with an aromatic scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
Buttermilk marinated, infused, staggeringly crisp Buffalo Wings, marinated with buttermilk and infused with cayenne pepper & garlic powder, served with tabasco sauce and white wine vinegar, was a major hit amongst the crowd! The flesh was juicy, tangy and appetising.
