Manipal: Day one of Revels, Manipal Institute of Technology’s (MIT) annual cultural fest took off with ‘Shoonya’, an Indo-contemporary dance performance by Terrence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company, on March 9 at the MIT quadrangle.

The dance routine portrayed various themes through their dance including importance of shoonya or zero, perception of art, heartbreak, love, the cut throat life of Mumbai, hostel life, friendship and more. The performance received a standing ovation by the audience. “It was something that was so different that each and everybody out there could interpret it in their own way. Something which we haven’t seen anywhere and we loved it,” said Amodini Vardhan, 1st year Computer Science, MIT.

The show was preceded by the Revels group dance competition, where Blitzkrieg beat Unitrix with just one point to emerge winners.

Events took place simultaneously throughout the day and included Unplugged, Mischief Managed, Potpourri, Comixtrip, Know your Camera, S.P.E.N.T. Quiz and many more. “All the events went along really well. They started and ended on time and there were no technical glitches, I think Revels day 1 went really well,” said Sowjanya M, Convener, Revels.
