‘The Local Train’ steals the show on Revels Day 31 min read
Manipal: ‘The Local Train’ stole the show with an electrifying performance at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) Quadrangle on Day 3 of Revels 16 – the cultural and sporting fest of MIT.
The band from Delhi judged ‘Battle of the Bands’ before taking the stage in a two-hour long performance that ended at 12.30 am. In-campus permit was given to students who packed into the Quadrangle to witness the live performance.
The quadrangle played host to ‘Battle of the Bands’ which kicked off belatedly with a performance by ‘Cloudburst’. The fast filling audience, was packed towards the end of the event. Band members of ‘The Local Train’, Raman Negi (Lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Paras Thakur (Lead guitar, backing vocals), Ramit Mehra (Bass guitar, backing vocals), Sahil Sarin (Drums, percussion, backing vocals) took over the stage playing their hit single “Aaoge Tum Kabhi” before performing various songs from their album “Aalas Ka Pedh”, iconic Hindi songs Dil Chahta Hai, Dil Se Re and also an unreleased song. “They were really good. I liked Dil Mere and Aaoge Tum Kabhi the best. I think Manipal will be checking them out on YouTube now”, said Manish Shetty, 3rd year, MIT.
Earlier in the day, a variety of competitions were held including Bahas (Hindi debate), Debate (English), Pearls of Wisdom, Improv Comedy, Mr. and Mrs. Revels among others. In the football tournament, MIT A and MIT B set up an all-MIT final after they won semi-final matches against Amrita Coimbatore and PA COE respectively. The MIT hockey team also booked their place in the final where they will face MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology from Bangalore.
