‘All the Best Blitzkrieg’: Manipal University wishes dance team leaving for Las Vegas1 min read
The Manipal University (MU) administration felicitated Blitzkrieg Dance Crew before the team travels to Las Vegas to represent India at the World Hip Hop Dance Championship.
The faculty and staff of MU gathered in the MIT Library hall to wish the crew luck for the Las Vegas competition and cut a cake to celebrate the dance team’s feats. Incidentally, it was the crew leader, John Daniel’s birthday.
Consisting of students from constituent colleges of MU, the crew is all set to represent India in Las Vegas in the ‘Mega-crew’ category after winning at the Indian Hip Hop Dance Championship in Mumbai. A 5-minute video about the dance competition was shown to those present, followed by solo performances by John Daniel and Kartik and a group performance by the crew. “Coming to Manipal University is the best thing which happened to me in my life,” said Daniel, thanking the MIT director and MU for their support to the team.
GK Prabhu voiced trust in the crew, saying that he believed that the students could win the competition. He pointed out how far they had reached from ‘their humble beginnings’. “I still remember how the students could be seen practicing in the college corridors, and now they are going to the championship in Las Vegas, which can be called the ‘Olympics’ of dance,” he said.
Other members of the University administration also commended the crew’s efforts. Dr. H S Ballal praised the student’s abilities to successfully juggle the pressure of studies and managing to emerge as the best dance Mega-Crew in India simultaneously.
Blitzkrieg will be performing on the world stage at Las Vegas at the World Hip Hop Dance Championship set to take place from August 8-13.
