‘The Joy of Giving’ week concludes with ‘We care’1 min read

Manipal: Volunteer Service Organization (VSO), on the concluding day of Daan Utsav – The Joy of Giving Week, organised ‘We Care’, an event aimed at spreading awareness about medicines among school kids, at the Manipal College Of Pharmaceutical Science (MCOPS).

The event was attended by around 50 students from Sri Krishna Bala Niketan, Udupi, who were made aware of the role of medicines, its benefits and side effects by Shivanand, laboratory in charge of the Medicine Department. Apart from this, the students were shown the manufacturing process of tablets & injections in the laboratory.

 

As a part of Daan Utsav – Joy of Giving Week, ‘We Care’ was organised by MCOPS

 

In an interactive session, Shivanand briefed the students about the importance of medical consultation before taking a medicine. “At a growing age it is essential to be aware of basic things. So these types of events are necessary,” he elaborated. After the interaction, a cultural program was also organized for the students by the Cultural Committee of MCOPS, which included events like singing and dancing and other games. “Their smile is the most precious gift one could have and I feel loved connecting with the kids,” elucidated Akshay Singh, Cultural Committee head of MCOPS.

With this day, a week long drive by VSO concluded, during which many events were organized under ‘The Joy Of Giving Week.’ Head of Daan Utsav ’16, Ashish Goel remarked, “This was 4th edition of Daan Utsav in Manipal and we are glad to lend our hand to the underprivileged.”
