Manipal: Tech Tatva, the annual technical fest of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) attracted large number of crowds on its first day, October 10. The theme of the event, ‘Passionately Curious’ has seen over a hundred and thirty events designed to celebrate curiosity.

The first day had 35 events lined out. Events like Direct O Manipal, AIB, Vedanth 6.0, and Soccer Bot were the main attractions of the first day. Direct O Manipal was a part of constructure, where delegates were asked to build a railway track on a contour map, keeping in mind the budget. AIB was a quiz on science and technology, based on the popular TV show, Game of Thrones. Vedanth 6.0 was an open forum where students of Robotics In Circuits, showcased their projects. Soccer Bot, held in front of the food court was a huge hit among the students.

The events were delayed due to the distribution of the delegation cards, however the Tech Tatva core committee quickly got things back on track. Paintball and Laser Tag were added to Tech Tatva this year as icebreaker events. They turned out to be popular with the crowd. “Tech Tatva has a bit of all tatva from all the MIT units,” said Aman, a first year MIT student.

Tech Tatva, which was started in 2005 has taken a life of its own over the years, adding innovative events and ideas. From wireless controlled underwater robots in 2008 to the inception of The Manipal Conclave in 2013, MIT’s technical fest is now almost a week-long celebration of ideas and innovation.
