Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) played host to a skateboarding demo on the evening of January 23 behind Innovation Centre as Holystoked and The Shaka Surf Club brought the little-known sport to the streets of Manipal.

Skateboarding arrived in India over 12 years ago. India’s first skatepark, Sk8Goa, was built in 2003.

Where do you skate in India?! India has 11 skateparks in Bangalore, Delhi, Kovalam, Hampi, Vizag, Ranchi, Goa and Pondicherry.

Skateboarding is now an Olympic sport! The International Olympic Committee voted unanimously in favour of including skateboarding at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Skateboarding is active in 12 places in India. Will Manipal be the 13th?
