VSO completes a decade1 min read

The Voluntary Services Organization (VSO) organized a program celebrating a decade of its existence in a bid to appreciate the various works done by its volunteers at the MV Kamath seminar hall here yesterday.

The program, which lasted for two and a half hour began with a prayer and the introduction of the chief guest Dr. Raj Warrier. Coordinator In charge of the program Navneeth Ganesh was next seen on the dais presenting the Year End Report. The organization was born on September 17, 2007, on the birthday of then Vice-chancellor Dr. Raj Warrier. It had started off with just four members at hand then.

Founder members of the organization, Dr. Shobha (Faculty at School of Communication and Faculty coordinator at Voluntary Services Organisation), and Ms.Vidya(Faculty at TAPMI and faculty adviser at Voluntary Services Organisation) were also present among the dignitaries, whose presence was recognized  along with distinguished guests like Mr.KV Koteshwara (Head of Department of Pharmaceutics), Ms.Jyothi Bharath (Now working with School Of Allied Health Sciences and the former secretary of the founder Dr. Raj Warrier), Sucheta Pradeep (Member of Manipal Mahila Samaj) by Dr.Anup Naha, the chief coordinator, who presented a memento to them.

A 20 minute video encompassing all the important memories of the decade was also screened for the audience. Having completed a decade, the organization said it now aims to promote research with high social impact, interdisciplinary research among volunteers, and other small innovations.
