Manipal alumnus arrested for dealing 5.28 kg marijuana1 min read
MANIPAL: On June 23, the Udupi district police arrested a graduate of Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) for possessing and distributing illegal drugs worth Rs 1,30,000 at Herga, Manipal.
The police have seized 5.28 kg of marijuana (ganja) from the arrested. The apprehended was trying to sell the material at 12:15 PM in a public place beside Vidyaratna Enclave, Herga on June 23.
The arrested has been identified as Prakhar Srivastava. He has completed his final year at WGSHA, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). He was arrested by the police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
“The arrested student has completed his final year at WGSHA college of MAHE and was engaged in consumption and distribution of marijuana,” said Seetharam P, inspector Cyber Crime Police Station, Udupi.
When caught, the police found out that he was also trying to sell a mobile worth Rs 5000, a trolley bag for Rs 1000 and other items for Rs 250. In total, he tried to sell materials worth Rs 1,36,250.
