Accident at NH66 claims lives of two, injures eight others1 min read
MANGALURU: During the evening hours of September 7, an accident between a car carrying 10 students and a truck resulted in the deaths of two students and injured eight others on NH66 in Mukka.
Speaking to The Manipal Journal, the Traffic Police of Surathkal said that the accident took place between 5 PM and 5:30 PM at the Chelyaru Cross at NH66. The police stated that the accident occurred after the car attempted to overtake another vehicle, hit the divider and went to the other side of the road, resulting in the lorry hitting them. One of the students passed away due to the impact while another succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
According to the DCP of Crime and Traffic, Mangaluru, the driver and the passengers were architecture students from Manipal College of Architecture and Design. The injured students were admitted to Srinivas Hospital, Surathkal and later shifted to Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Mangalore.
The DCP further elaborated that the students had been to Mangaluru for a project to study architectural design.
