Power Parba 2020 – exhibition cum sale organised in Udupi2 min read
UDUPI: Platform for Women Entrepreneurs Registered (POWER) hosted the third edition of their three-day exhibition-cum-sale event promoting the welfare of women entrepreneurs, POWER PARBA, on January 10 – 12 at Mahatma Gandhi Bayalu Ranga Mandira in Udupi.
The latest edition of Power Parba’s exhibition had close to 225 stalls by women entrepreneurs, ranging from Bombay to Belgaum. All the displayed products in the stalls were either made or were marketed by the women entrepreneurs. Salwa, a 17-year-old artist from Udupi, displaying her acrylic paintings and calligraphy frames artwork at Power Parba, said, “It’s a great forum for all women, and Power Parba has helped a lot of women to come out of their house and do something for themselves.”
The event had arranged a variety of competitions and programs throughout the three days. On the first day, a special demo class by chefs from Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) in the morning which was followed by a two-hour cooking competition.
A drawing competition and a talent show for the children between the ages of 8 to 16 took place on the second day. The evening was filled with dance performances from various dance groups around Udupi. Shilpa, a citizen of Udupi, who was a visitor exclaimed, “I am very happy that I could contribute to a good cause by shopping from such an exhibition which helps the businesses of these women.”
The Chief Guest of the inauguration evening was Tanvi Jagdish. It was also attended by many dignitaries including Raghupati Bhat, the representative of the constituency of Udupi at the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
The three-day event concluded with a ‘Trash to Treasure’ exhibit which was held along with the Valedictory Ceremony. Shaashtra Shetty, Former Miss India Goa was in attendance and concluded the three-day-long event.
