Two Manipal students arrested for possession of drugs worth Rs 3.89 lakh; fourth bust in one month1 min read
MANIPAL: On October 31, two students of Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal were arrested for the possession of illegal drugs worth Rs 3.89 lakh in a raid conducted by the local police in Manipal, Udupi.
The arrested persons have been identified as Aditya Prabhu and Anish Rajan, residing in Aditi Sourabh and MP Park apartments respectively. The latter is a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) from the United States.
As per Manipal police, the narcotics drugs seized in the raid include 32 grams of hydro weed (ganja), 25 MDMA tablets, and nine grams of brown sugar. The net worth of the seized articles is estimated to be Rs 3.89 lakh.
“A case has been registered under the Manipal police station and both the apprehended are in police custody. Further investigation is underway,” stated Manjunath Gowda, Manipal Police Inspector (PI), who was part of the raid team led by Kumar Chandra, Additional Superintendent of Police (SP), Udupi.
“The Manipal police have been making efforts to handle the situation in an effective manner. The team has been making an effort to create awareness among the youth. Every tip-off is paid heed to and locals are urged to inform the police of such illegal activities,” said Udupi SP Vishnuvardhan regarding the increasing number of drug-related cases in the district.
According to the press conference held by the police on November 1, this is the fourth such drug raid conducted by the Udupi district police in the last month.
